“I want 12 kids!” That’s what I told my wife when we first married. We have not achieved that, yet. Too many men see kids as a bother. Jesus loved them, held them, and blessed them.
Fill the earth with children
How can we follow the modern dislike of children and obey God? He commanded us to populate the planet with kids that love Him. Modernity tells us children are too expensive and you need a vasectomy after two.
God told us to be fruitful and multiply. Rather than look at children as an expense, see them as a blessing. We have offset the cost of raising children by homesteading. This gives them a chance to learn to work and raise their own food.
For those who cannot have children
Perhaps a childless couple could do their part to populate the planet by adoption. Godly foster parents and adoptive parents do a ministry few will take. This is not for everyone and two must only do it if called by God.
We should not shove children out of the way at church. They should participate in ministry and join their parents in worship. They are our examples of what true faith and humility is.
The new mandate for global dominion
Everyone has another mandate for changing the globe. In Matthew 28:19, Jesus said we are to be fruitful and multiply by discipling every nation and language group. Populate the world with believers.
More than just build our own families, God wants us to build His family. He is adopting sons and daughters into His family everyday. We join Him in recruiting new “kids” and converting the whole world.
Prayer, study, and teaching provide the right connection for spiritual conceptions. New believers are born by repentance, baptism in Jesus’ family name, and receiving His Spirit with a new language (Acts 2:38).
While having families with many children is pleasing to God, bring them into the family God is even more important.
